EducationHigher education institutions are building about 1,500+ new buildings and additions and modernizing 2,500+ buildings annually. Whether a new or existing building, there are regulatory requirements set nationally, locally, and at the state level regarding vertical transportation systems. We understand that colleges build and maintain many types of facilities, including research laboratories, art studios, utility generation and transmission plants, dormitories, and water-distribution systems. Some institutions also have specialized facilities such as medical centers, agricultural center, nuclear reactors, and high-security biomedical laboratories.

VTX has a clear understanding of the unique requirements each of these facilities have in a campus environment. Dorm elevators are different from classroom buildings. Parking garage elevators are different from elevators in the library.

Reviewed design documents, established criteria of elevator needs and expectations. We also coordinated and advised the state inspectors’ office of the efforts being exerted on the project.

Providing on/call vertical transportation consulting services in support of design and construction of miscellaneous renovation and new construction projects on the New Brunswick, Camden, and Newark Campuses.

Provided design and construction administration services for modernizing dormitory elevators.

State University of New York, AlbanyState University of New York
Location: Albany, NY
Provided surveys and reports on the condition of elevators, as well as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning cooling and hoistway ventilation design requirements related to the elevator operation.

University of ArizonaUniversity of Arizona
Location: Tucson, AZ
Provided construction administration and inspection services for the installation of one hydraulic passenger elevator in the Intercollegiate Athletics Facilities Additions and Renovations. The elevator is located in the new basketball practice facility for the nationally ranked University of Arizona Wildcats. The project also includes expansion to the Mary Roby Gymnastics Training Center and a new Diving Pool.
