VTX Announces Implementation of the Oculus Network® for the CTA
October 10, 2008/Harrisburg, Pa.: Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) selected Vertical Transportation Excellence (VTX) for the implementation of the Oculus Network for the nine escalators replacement project at several stations in downtown Chicago, Ill. The Oculus Network is a patented design solution for generic, open-source code remote monitoring and video, and maintenance management system for elevators, escalators, pumps, fans, and other equipment.
For today’s world of proprietary control systems and protocols, the Oculus Network is designed to connect all makes and models of elevators and escalators to a unique alarm system. It is configured specifically to monitor equipment, including digital video recording of faults; automatically to generate reports for the owners; and simultaneously to dispatch mechanics.
VTX will furnish all labor, material, equipment, and services necessary to install the heavy-duty transit system escalators for the project. In addition to installing the escalator enclosure and support infrastructure, VTX will provide initial and ongoing maintenance service contracts. Under their contract VTX will provide templates, sleeves, inserts, and anchoring devices to station contractors for installation.
VTX, an elevator and escalator consulting firm, offers a wide-range of vertical transportation services to commercial, institutional, and public transit markets. A solid foundation of thorough planning, hands-on supervision, attention to detail, and an appreciation of the project schedule and budget set this talented team apart from the competition.
