September 23, 2005/Harrisburg, Pa.: Vertical
Transportation Excellence (VTX) recently joined The Practicing
Institute of Engineering, Inc. (PIE). VTX’s
training program – Elevator and Escalator Design and Safety
Issues – conducted by our vertical transportation consultants
is approved by PIE and in compliance with procedures and regulations
regarding mandatory continuing education for professional engineers.
This two-hour long presentation is geared towards engineers who
are required in some states to complete 36 professional development
hours (PDHs) every three years to remain in good standing with the
organization. VTX’s seminar, PS#001053, provides two PDHs.
VTX has also been an American Institute of Architect’s Continuing
Education System (AIA/CES) provider since 2000. Becoming an AIA/CES
and PIE registered provider requires a company-wide commitment to
quality education. VTX designed this training seminar to provide
up-to-date information on the elevator and escalator codes.
The presentation’s primary focus is on the latest edition
of the ASME A17.1 Elevator and Escalator Code. The ASME A17.1 Elevator
Safety Code contains nine parts that are reviewed in detailed in
this presentation. The outlined topics address electric elevators,
hydraulic elevators, elevators with other types of driving machines,
special application elevators, escalators and moving walks, dumbwaiters
and material lifts, general requirements, and reference codes.
VTX’s program format includes a presentation and time to take
part in an interactive question and answer exchange. If you are an
architect or engineer and need learning units or PDHs, please e-mail
VTX.
